I remember the therapists for Coop often telling me they were so grateful that I had listened to my "Mommy Instincts" and had him in therapy as soon as I did. Being proactive and getting Oakie evaluated isn't going to hurt but only help. So, kudos to you!! It's interesting that the therapists mentioned that he uses the back of his mouth mainly, because that's what Cooper did. They referred to it as "backing". Anyway, give that little bug a kiss from Auntie. I sure miss his cute little face. Good luck with everything here on out...you know I'm only a phone call away!! Love you!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1893716683279730163.post-5778066028872256592013-01-07T15:38:05.264-06:002013-01-07T15:38:05.264-06:00He is so adorable! Q did speech therapy, and it was such a great experience for us! I hope you have just as good of an experience that you will see quick improvement. Good for you for being proactive and having him evaluated! There are so many services out there to help children and that parents aren't aware of. I've talked to so many speech therapists over the years and have dealt with speech delayed children that's it practically a way of life for me! We've also made some wonderful friendships with speech therapists over the years that we're still in touch with them today. I guess that would be a bonus!Kauihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01709871112978024238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1893716683279730163.post-75922660096388896352013-01-05T13:58:41.902-06:002013-01-05T13:58:41.902-06:00I could be the voice of doom - honestly, Whit, it ...I could be the voice of doom - honestly, Whit, it sounds a lot like Samuel. I didn't think anything of it because he was a healthy child, developmentally ahead in other areas, and I could usually understand him. I had started doing a little sign language with him just so we could communicate better and he really took that. You know my whole story, in fact I often went to you to know if I should be concerned and you said don't worry. :) It's good advice, because as you know, there's nothing to do until you find out what's going on and then you just do what's necessary. Am I making any sense? Anyway, whatever the outcome it's going to be okay and if you have any questions give me a call. Or no questions at all, just want to chat. :)Aubreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07549497644004955333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1893716683279730163.post-12281000350200472002013-01-04T21:36:26.237-06:002013-01-04T21:36:26.237-06:00I wouldn't worry too much about him yet. He qualified for speech school at 3 when i finally tested him. (really liked waiting till at least then.) Totally caught up now.

Jacob talked but could never be understood. Turned out he he fluid behind his ears until he was 4. He started speech at a specific speech school (where I go with him for one hour a week and i LOVE). We put in tubes and he's about caught up.

Jane has big speech issues. she's going to speech school now with me once a week. She started at 3.5.

Dalton is 18 months and only says "ma". I'm already planning on speech since he's a little behind and it tends to run in the family. Plus I'm used to it.

I don't know why all my kids have speech problems. Adam and I didn't. But my advice is to just have fun with them and don't stress. They'll come around. All of my kids have been able to communicate, just not speak. And I really like being involved in the speech teaching. Speech school gives us homework to do every night and it's really helpful.

So anyway, have fun!Adriennehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12815686294981020575noreply@blogger.com
