The One You've Been Waiting For

Goodness, it's been a while since I've posted a good ol' fashioned uber-post. While originally I was putting it off and sorta dreading it, I found that I when I sat down at the computer this morning, I was kind of excited to start. I guess that my big ol' blog posts are kind of like reviewing my life, finding some of the best and funniest moments in it, and then (best of all) sharing it with y'all. What's not to love about that? Anyway, without further ado, on with the show...

A while ago, Kansas City's Crown Center had a fairytale land set up that the kids could go and play in (yay! for free entertainment). It was so much fun and the kiddos just ate it up! It was fun with Ezra, especially, because he already knew so many of the stories. Georgia, on the other hand, particularly (and predictably) enjoyed the princess scenes.

We started off the afternoon with a picnic...in our car, that is. Rain'll do that to a picnic, ya know.

Looking in the Evil Queen's Magic Mirror

Ezra meeting one of the Three Little Pigs. If he likes to work as much as Ezra, he's the one that built his house from straw.

Daddy and Scarlett in Red Riding Hood's forest

Georgia and the Goose's golden eggs

The coup de grace? Cinderella's pumpkin carriage

After Fairytale Land, we headed over to meet Sleeping Beauty. Initially, Georgia was the most excited about it. However, after the 1.5 hours spent in this line...not so much.

That's ok, we managed to entertain ourselves fairly well while waiting. Nothing like some Marilyn Monroe-style excitement to keep things interesting.

By the end, the girls were too exhausted to take pictures. For Ezra, on the other hand, it was love at first sight.

For a random 2 day span of time, Georgie carried 3 potatoes around with her. She played with them constantly. Her favorite activity was setting a bunch of animals around them and having them eat the potatoes. It was hilarious.

Cinco de Mayo!
If you can't tell, we're huge fans of dance parties at our house.

A local sighting of a largemouth bass. Oh wait, never mind...that's my daughter.

Princess Georgia is 3!!!

The girl of the hour

Her Royal Wardrobe

The Royal Decor
(I discovered you can do a whole lot of things with .50c worth of supplies from a garage sale)

The Royal Cake
(she informed me she wanted a pink and purple princess cake and this was the best I could do)

Georgia still talks about how her "cake had 1, 2, 3 candles and then we put fire on them." She was enamored with the whole thing.

Sometimes I wish we had at least two birthdays a month. Birthdays just make the world a better place.

I was going to post our Oklahoma trip pictures too, but I think you've had enough for one day, so I'm cuttin' ya off. Check back soon for those. Hope you enjoyed the much-anticipated uber-post! Have a fabulous day!

this is NOT the promised uber-post

I know y'all expect an uber-post, but I figured I'd do this one first. The Big One is in the works, I promise. Well, actually, that's sort of a lie. I haven't even started it yet, to be honest. Don't worry, it'll be coming, it's just kind of turned into the overdue homework project of my youth. That's ok though, I work best under pressure. oops, there's another lie. I actually don't work best under pressure. Time-crunching and pressure and what-not just stress me out so I can't think straight and then I end up typoing left and right and my jokes are a little un-funny...well, you get the point. Anyway, I took these videos on a whim this evening and thought I'd share. Watch 'em if you want. or don't. whatev. They're mostly for the grands and aunties anyway.

Beyonce had better watch out. She's got some young upstarts to contend with.

Scarlett: up-close and personal

Does anyone know if Chippendales is hiring?
(note: this one actually wasn't taken this afternoon. It's from a month or two ago, but I discovered it while posting the other two and couldn't resist throwing it in.)

Let's drive to where the road ends...

Spencer Owen, I'm cravin' a little mud on the tires.
How 'bout you?

There's a place I know about where the dirt road runs out
And we can try out the four-wheel drive
Come on now what do you say
Girl, I can hardly wait to get a little mud on the tires

'Cause it's a good night
To be out there soakin' up the moonlight
Stake out a little piece of shoreline
I've got the perfect place in mind
It's in the middle of nowhere only one way to get there
You got to get a little mud on the tires...

I tell you what we need to do is grab a sleepin' bag or two
And build us a little campfire
And then with a little luck we might just get stuck
Let's get a little mud on the tires

ps-eek! Has it been a week already? I promise, promise, promise a real-live picture post soon. Sorry, it was kind of a head-in-the-sand sort of week.

pps-I know, I know, I'm usually an "official" music video type person, but this video reminded me of my brother-in-law, Eric, so I posted it anyway. As the video-maker put it, it's "perrrty good."

Tonight, as I was driving home from Girls Camp, all by my lonesome, I kept thinking about the summer before my freshman year of college. A friend and I would find any excuse to drive up to Salt Lake City and back in his old topless land cruiser, just to feel the wind in our faces. So, I rolled the windows down, jacked up some old school rock, enjoyed the first fireflies of the season whizzing by, and sang my heart out.

If you haven't done that for awhile, I highly recommend it.

ps-uber-post coming soon, I promise.
