Eggs, Butter, and Candy, oh my!

Decorating Easter Cookies
...I didn't bother getting out my camera until things got really fun.

Dying Eggs

You may have noticed that in all of these pictures the chairs are pulled back from the table. That's because I'm a mean mommy and trying to avoid another mess like the Easter cookies incident.

The product:

Making Resurrection Rolls
(instructions and recipe found here)

The Big Hunt
(I'm apologizing in advance for these pictures. They were moving so quick and refused to stop and smile...so you get what you get)

At some point in time during the day, Georgia decided that butter was her favorite. thing. ever.

The "Friend" Egg Hunt

Take a gander at Georgia's basket and you might notice all the opened eggs. That's because she would stop and open the egg every time she found one in order to take stock of the candy inside. She'd then count it like a little miser.

Sorry, no picture of Ezra. He was too morose to take a picture as the big kids got to the candy first, leaving him only with shells.

Imagine a GIANT parentheses here...
While posting these pics I was reminded of last year's Easter pictures. Here's a few to compare...

End of GIANT parentheses.

The end result of the day's festivities? Sunburned, dirty, sugarfied, happy children:

Oh fun and cute. Your kids are getting so big. A love how serious and methodical Ez looks while dying eggs. Scarlett looks like she is turning into a little squirt. You look great by the way. Happy Easter!

Beautiful! I, too, loved Ez's concentration and I can just see George being miserly about her candy. So cute, so funny. Little stinker, Scarli! I always thought she would be your calm one...haahaa! ;)

Ahhh! I loved your post!! I was comparing (mentally) to themselves last year...and walah! There you provided pics yourself! I CAN'T believe how big they've gotten. It's crazy. Your kids are absolutely beautiful!! I loved the "sugarfied" Scarli. She is so adorable and looked like she had a grand 'ol time. I was was in awe of "done" Georgia's hair. So stinking cute and curly. Ez always looks like he is in grave concentration (i.m.o.)...unless he's screaming or being a frienemy... ;) What a great Mommy you are...decorating cookies, eggs and rolls. You put me to s.h.a.m.e!! Oh, I loved the "Easter" on your shelf...where did you get that?? Love it...loved all of it!

Spencer's obvious touch in this... an egg between two door frames. Priceless!

Great pictures. Gotta love the Ezra being too morose for pictures on the Friends Egg hunt. I feel his pain, those big boys...!

Hey is that a "hidden" egg on top of the A in EASTER on your bookcase shelf, or is it part of the decoration? Just wondering if I should be telling Ez to look up...

dad-you're right, the egg between two doorways was definitely spence's doing. As for the hidden egg on the Easter sign, it was an actual real egg. It took the kids for-ev-er to find it too.
