phew.

On his way to run some errands with the kids the other day, Spencer decided to swing by a park to let them play for a bit*. Immediately he realized his mistake of stopping in an uber-nice area of town. Looking around, there was a ratio of one kid per parent (with each parent closely following their small charge) and the place was flooded with massive amounts of khakis, tucked-in polos, and loafers.

As he sat around watching his bare-footed, crazy-haired, dirty-faced mowglis run around, he was approached by a mom who asked him incredulously if all three kids were his and if he actually came alone to the park. After he responded in the positive, she asked him how he did it as she had two small boys at home and couldn't even manage to leave the house when she was alone with them. At this time, the mom had a bit of a epiphany. She theoretically wiped her brow, telling Spencer that, "It must be because I have TWO boys, while two of your kids are GIRLS." phew, indeed.

With a chuckle, Spencer just gestured to our girls playing together, saying, "I don't know, that one there, she's a wild one."

So, next time Scarlett's standing on top of Georgia's dresser, chucking things off, or Georgia's painting herself, the house, and every window in sight with mud, I'll think to myself, "It's a darn good thing we have girls." [insert eye roll and dripping sarcasm here]

p.s.-Catch-up post a-comin', I promise.

*Yes, he was alone with all three kids on a Saturday morning, running errands, AND stopping at a park? Where does he keep his cape, right?

WOW! I better stop now while I have one of each, I might not be able to handle it if I had another boy!

So funny!

I don't know how many times I've gotten that question or even just that look - you know what I'm talking about - that "you must be crazy" look. And it's even worse when they ask if we're done having kids and I say we might have more. We definitely stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm thinking that I'm glad we don't have girls... :)

Seriously? Do those women just stay home. All. day. long. I couldn't imagine staying home all day because I can't leave the house with two kids. And yes, where does your husband keep his cape? And how do I get my husband one of those? (capes that give great courage in parenting?)

I would like to remind you and your audience of an important slide show and line from The Incredible's, "No capes!!"

As always I love your dirty face mowglis.

O my. Yur tots look as if they could give mine a run for their money!!!
I have three boys and a girl, my sister has three girls and a boy...the child-relatedhappenings in our lives are VERY comparable, but sometimes her female heathens take the cake in onery-ness.

sometimes i wonder why people have kids if they are afraid to be crazy and busy and running around with them. i think there needs to be a realistic manual people are given at some point, "do you really know what a kid is like?" so they'll have to consider it before deciding to repopulate.

your spencer is definitly incredible. i love pushing the kids out the door with weston and staying behind to do my own thing!

If people only knew! I get crazy looks/comments sometimes too where people have no idea how much energy a child can have! It's so funny how they expect mine or theirs to just be perfectly clean or well behaved all the time. So not going to happen. I love how you guys embrace it rather than try to diminsh that inner, ahem, zest for life.

And sidenote: Thacker rarely takes a nap either. He woke up early yesterday and I might have driven him around in the car for a long time just to bring on a nap. :)

Oh and PS. I was at the lib last night and realized that Bennett is getting just as rambunctious as Thacker is/was. I started getting really concerned. I finally figured out how to handle one like that, but two?! Thacks was running away every minute (typical) and Bennett refused to be held and was also trying to run away. I was really hoping this next child would be a little more relaxed!

Mormon guys rock!

And a girl with a spunky, curious, energetic personality can be every bit as difficult as a boy. Ask me sometime about the time Bethany knocked down a pyramid of over 100 shoe boxes in a department store when I was nine months pregnant with Paiton. She then ran like a banshee through the pantyhose aisle squealing and laughing while I chased her down as the employees glared at me. So fun.

Ha ha ha ha! Yeah...run this by Gretchen (sister...not aunt) with her 3 independent girls. She will get a kick out of it.

Let's see... Scarlet, toilet, brown all over her face and front... and I thought I had the poopy job!! ; ) just kidding. But does she really need to dip her oreos in there? ; ) Ohh my am I on a roll or what!

Along your pink vs. blue line of thinking, I'd say you have more watage amongst you three than most poser grids and if Liberty's Emme can keep up with her brothers, she will raise the roof!

With Spencer dry humor, I'd say he flew right past Mrs. Incredulous...

Love the post my dear.

PS sorry for the miss spelled words: your; wattage; power... oh my!

Too funny! Believe me, I'd pit my day with my boys against your girls and I'd come out the winner (the one with the easier children)...so funny!!

Hee, hee...(yep, still laughing)! Your girls are spunky, mischievious, sometimes downright filthy and most importantly perfect just the way they are. Spence is right, "that one over there IS a wild one"! I could claim that some of the messes Ella gets into puts the ones my boys made to shame. I'd have to say your girls can top the cake on mischief...thankfully they're "just" girls, though. ;)
