My decapod crustacean of a daughter

shrimp: tiny in size, quantity; adjective

Synonyms:bantam, bitty, cramped, diminutive, inconsequential, inconsiderable, little, meager, microscopic, mini, miniature, minuscule, minute, modest, petite, picayune, piddling, pint-sized, pocket-sized, puny, runty, scanty, scrubby, short, slight, small-scale, stunted, teensy, teeny, toy, trifling, trivial, undersized, unpretentious, wee.

...apparently, I've given birth to one.

Scarlett recently had her 9 month well-baby (although she's actually 10 months) and weighed in at a whopping 14lbs 12oz and 26 inches in length. She was only 5% in length, but that's still significantly better than her weight, which wasn't even anywhere near the bottom of the percentile chart. Our (fabulous) doctor isn't all that worried, but he'd like her to come in and have her weight checked at the end of the month, just to be sure she's growing.

She's a tiny little thing, but we love her anyway. She's all dimply smiles and giggles and is such a ray of sunshine and joy in our home. Not to mention, she has the biggest grin I've ever seen. Her smile to face ratio is insanely unbalanced in favor of her smile. That's ok, I still think she's beautiful.

(whoa, I'm pretty sure I'm seeing some tonsils)

On a random note, a friend of mine sells aprons she and a friend make...and I just gotta say, they're absolutely fabulous (then again, everything Carrie does seems to be fabulous;). To top off the rampant fabulousness, they're having a free give away! yay! yay! Visit here to enter.

Stay tuned, when I get up the motivation I'll post some pictures from our trip to Amarillo and Georgia looking like a homeless man (big stretch of the imagination there, I'm sure)...

Not that I wish this for young Scarlett...but when Max was born and for the first good part of his life, he was in the smaller percentile. And now he is off the charts huge. Then again...he was a premie.

She is still adorable!

I love you, too, Scarlee!!! She is so smiley and beautiful, I don't mind if she is a tiny little shrimp...I produce my own, too. By the way, fabulous aprons! They look like they should be dresses instead!

She IS a ray of sunshine and her smile is infectious. She is a blessing to all those she comes in contact with. I love you Miss Scarly!!

phhhhttt! Docs know nothing. Adia was in the negatives for a year. I kept saying I think she might have celiac since her daddy has it. They told me not to change her diet but I did and she gained weight. She is still between 5-10% she is going to always be little but she doesn't stop moving she is healthy. I wouldn't worry about Scarlett unless she was lethargic. Don't you fret about the cutie.

you know that whoever made those charts was wacko right? According to them Olivia might be a giant child and, I am sure, Scarlet will grow to be way taller than my Lily is :)

hugs hugs!

KeLei didn't reach 20 pounds until 15 months. She was always small and petite. I had to take her into weigh her. The Dr. finally ask if I was worried about her weight, I said no, so I stopped bringing her in. As long as Scarlett is happy and healthy, I would say don't worry about it! She is just a small, petite princess!

She sure is cute, even if she is small!

To answer your question: we were worried that Jenna had a lazy eye. So we took her in to get it checked out. She doesn't have lazy eye, but he checked her vision out and decided that it wasn't the greatest. It isn't horrible by any means, but bad enough she needs some little glasses :)

All of your kids are adorable! I love your posts!
